Multan: The city of shrine
Multan is historical city located in south Pakistan. Multan is also known as Manchester of Pakistan as it is the most ancient city of Pakistan with a unique and significant cultural history.
Geographical location:
Multan is a city located in south Punjab, Pakistan and is located in the bank of river Chenab. It is the fifth most urban area in Pakistan.
Historical places of Multan:
The most priceless feature of Multan is its stunning mosques, which are among the oldest in all of South Asia. According to legend, the Muhammad Qasim regime's Jamia mosque was the first mosque to ever stand on Multan's grounds. Sadly, natural disasters have destroyed the masjid's original construction, leaving only its remnants. Despite being the oldest, Sawi Masjid is currently in poorer condition. The Mohammad Khan Wali Mosque, which was in superb shape, was the third masjid.
The city is home to numerous Hindu and Sikh populations, each with their own sacred Mandirs (temples) and Gurdwaras, despite Islam being the most popular religion in the area. Among the most notable temples in Multan is the Sun Mandir, which was formerly regarded as the most prominent house of worship in all of South Asia. Another temple, Suraj Kund, which means "the pool of the sun," was built over a pond when it was full of water. Similar to this, there were additional mandirs such as Narsinghpuri Temple and Prahladpuri Temple.
Despite these all things, Multan is widely known for the shrine located in the city. Multan's architecture is shaped by its religious legacy, just as Bahawalpur's architecture is by its political heritage. Multan is frequently referred to as the shrine and saint city. Hundreds of mausoleums of the saints who brought Islam to the subcontinent with a message of love, peace, brotherhood, tolerance, and religious harmony may be found within a 25-mile radius.
Culture of Multan:
One of the earliest languages used in southern Punjab is called multani. It is a Punjabi dialect that combines Sindhi and Jhangochi. Multani was in use for centuries, while Saraiki is the current name. It is mostly spoken in the districts of Multan, Muzaffargarh, and surrounding areas. Nearly the same traditions, customs, and culture exist over this entire region.
There are numerous citrus and mango fields in the flat plain that surrounds the city, which is perfect for agriculture. The Multan District is crossed by numerous canals that carry water from surrounding farmland. The soil is therefore quite fertile.Mangoes from Multan are among the greatest in the world. There are many different types of mangoes being grown, and mango fields are by far the most common sight in Multan's suburbs.
The most substantial aspect of Multani culture is “Derra”. It is a form of a “Bhettak” where people unite after their work and express their problems or have a good chit chat. For me it is the most wanted and inspiring element needed in our fast paced life where we do not have time for our families or even for us. This type of culture adds value and care about each other which is highly recommended in a pessimist society like ours.
